Brady

My Story:

I’m Brady from Rome, GA. I am originally from Arlington, TX but moved to GA when I was 6 months old. I went to Rome High School and am now a freshman at Berry College in Rome. I love to run and was fortunate enough to receive a cross-country and track scholarship to Berry. I have aspirations of being a doctor and am in the process of earning a degree in biochemistry with a pre-med focus. I also love to serve others. Community service has always been a huge part of my life and I just enjoy doing it. I am an Eagle Scout, play the guitar, and am an avid AIDS awareness promoter. My passion is primarily the AIDS children of sub-Saharan Africa. AIDS is an epidemic of unknowable proportions and is ravaging not only Africa but the entire world, including America. There are over 15 million AIDS children as of the past few years and this number increases daily. Very little help is given to this problem compared with others and the outcome is simply more AIDS victims and increased poverty as a cause of the expensive medicines that are required to live. It is my heart to help these people and I don’t plan on stopping until it is finished and/or Christ returns.

Why I’m seeking to live a life of mission:

About three years ago, I accepted the call to full time international missions. I didn’t really know what this entailed but I knew that I was supposed to go and serve. I was able to spend two weeks in Bangkok, Thailand this past summer and the fire for missions grew enormously while I was there. When I returned, I was almost depressed because I had to be in America and not over seas serving. God is sovereign though and immediately opened an opportunity for me to go to Zimbabwe in this upcoming May. He wasn’t finished at Zimbabwe though. Over fall break this past year, I was able to spend the majority of the day with the Lord. I had been praying recently for God to make me “a man after his own heart” and shouting with Isaiah “Here I am! Send me!” God answered my prayer with a question—Do you really mean what you say? I of course answered back “Of course I do.” To that He gracefully told me to go. That was it, just go. He didn’t tell me any details other than it needs to be the next school year and should last for one year. Over the past several months I have been getting in contact with organizations and preparing myself to dedicate a year of my life to His service before I dedicate my life to missions. I am so excited about the next year, so I can finally get a real taste of what living on the mission field is like.
