My Story:
I'm Amy, originally from Georgetown, TX but claim Austin as my home!
There are 3 things in life that I am passionate about, of course the first one is far and way above the last two: 1) Jesus 2) University of Texas football 3) Wakeboarding! Ha! There are more but those are three things I just really enjoy! I have pretty much lived in the same area of Texas since I was nine, and only having moved 30 miles from home to go to college - UT...I have a longing in me to leave my home and venture into the unknown!
I grew up in a Christian home with parents who love the Lord and have laid a godly foundation in my life. Upon graduating from High School I knew I wanted to get a degree in advertising and I knew I wanted to get it from The University of Texas at Austin! That's where I found my second passion - TEXAS football! I can watch college football all day long.....a good football game really excites me! After college I found a job at an advertising agency and began the start of a career I had long to have!
Though over the past year God has completely changed my heart because I just love building relationships with people and sharing Christ with them along with giving me a desire to do that internationally! So this is where I am now! I still love advertising and hope to use it in ministry one day but this is where God has lead my heart at this time in my life. Other than that....I love art, design, music and being creative by making things for my friends and family!
In my life I knew at an early age Jesus as Savior but it wasn't until I was about twenty years old that I made Him as Lord of my Life. Most of my teenage life I didn't walk with the Lord, but with His tender patient hand He has lead me back to Him and for that I am so thankful! I never thought I would love Him, praise Him, or tell others about Him the way I do now! It's not me....thank goodness!
Why I’m seeking to live a life of mission:
The Lord started turning my heart towards foreign missions last year around April 2006. In early 2006 I had already began looking for a new job in my career field of advertising and realized it was really my heart anymore, unless I could use it in a ministry/mission sense. I began telling my friends all I really enjoy doing at my job is building relationships with the girls in my office and if I could do that all day long, how cool and fulfulling that would be! Well my friends responded and said "that's ministry Amy!" and my response was "no, I'm not called to that!" Well by October 16, 2006 I surreneded to the Lord that I would serve Him in ministry or missions for the rest of my life! The previous year I had also been on a mission trip to Sudan and that really opened my eyes up to the world and the Muslim people, who's soil is hard and needs lots of tending to! Before I went on this trip I read a book called "Wanting More" which is an excellent book written by a current missionary, Joel Vestal. I would recommend this to anyone insterested in the world and God's plan for it!
